The present work was done to investigate the role of Glomus mossae mycorrhiza in the transport of Cr (IV) metal from soil into Cenchrous ciliaris plants. Experiments were conducted in small bags filled with autoclaved soil. Results show that Cenchrous ciliaris accumulates Cr metal. Increased concentration of the chromium metal in the soil negatively affects mycorrhizal association with the plant roots. Mycorrhizal infection appears to enhance metal uptake by the plant, although the degree of infection does not correlate with the extent of metal uptake.
